When food is labeled with the amount of fat that it contains, it makes you think twice. Why don’t they do that in restaurants? Jon Feinstein, with his series Fast Food, takes popular fast food items and strips away logo and name. He presents the food as if floating in a void, unsure of what it really is. They feel like plastic, like a toy in a play kitchen. This study on fast food culture is interesting and disgusting at the same time. And that’s not directed to the images but to the food itself.

This past weekend was Canadian thanksgiving and if i didn’t have 3 flights of stairs to my apartment i would have rolled in. Last night i arrived home after a weekend of food and more food and wine and more food. I sat down to my computer and stumbled-upon this site, MicroManiac and i felt like my stomach was talking to me! If you watch just one watch the eggs…it’s pretty intense!

still shot of the eggs meltdown ©MicroManiac

Then this morning before writing this post, now that my body is slowly recovering from all that good food, family good times, and with all the food that i saw this weekend, i thought about this photo-essay that i saw a while ago on Walrus called Our Daily Bread by Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio.

Our Daily Bread © Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio

Our Daily Bread ©Peter Menzel and Faith D’Aluisio

So Canadians, i hope everybody had a wonderful long weekend, with great food and good company.
