Arthur Renwick – Mask
I first saw Arthur Renwick’s work at The National Gallery of Canada last year, I’ve recently attended a couple of lectures where his name has come up, which made me go back to rediscover his work. These were some of the portraits that I saw, which are printed larger than life and were extremely impressive.

Michal Chelbin – Strangely familiar
Michal Chelbin’s Strangely familiar series presents portraits of small town performers from eastern Europe. Because they are presented outside of their performing environment, our attention is directed to the odd details of their costumes, to the poses of their body and to the unexpected settings in which they are captured.

Lucia Ganieva – The Sunset of Fame
Lucia Ganieva works mainly with women. With this series, The Sunset of Fame (this also stands for her Factory series) she creates a wonderful dialogue with her images.

Erica Allen – Untitled Gentleman
Erica Allen’s series, Untitled Gentleman, is currently being featured on Women in Photography, where I came across her work. I’m really enjoying this work; Erica explores an interesting idea and makes the work so visually stimulating. Salva Lopez – Roig 26
Check out Salva Lopez’s work, especially the series Roig 26. This is a work in progress, no statement that I can find, but I would imagine that this is a series about her grandparents and their home environment. The portraits and the stills of the home work beautifully together.
