Keliy Anderson-Staley – Tintype Portrait Series

© Keliy Anderson Staley
Tintypes are a one of a kind photographic process that was introduced in the 1850s. This delicate procedure of mixing chemicals and long exposures is only for the determined. Keily Anderson-Staley has created a huge series of portraits with the wet plate collodion process, titled Tintype Portrait Series. This technique of portraiture is lengthy and becomes an actual event for the sitter, as it used too be. No 10 images a second here! Without any facial expression, the eyes become so important and I think what makes these images so human and honest.
