Photographer friend of mine Iva Zimova pointed me to this absolutely wonderful series.

Panos photographer Martin Roemers photographed and interviewed two dozen people, out of many thousand that lost their sight during conflict in World War II.

“Do you know what I would like? To be able to see my children for a minute or even a second.” Elena Griczienko (German, born USSR, 1939)

The Eyes of War is a poignant and ghost like series. The interviews that accompany the images are as captivating as the portraits. This series is thoughtfully put together and just incredibly well done.
