I am a huge fan of Vanessa Winship. Her work is absolutely breath taking. I can stay for hours on her site looking at every single image. She takes you on a journey. She’s poetic and with her work Sweet Nothings: Rural Schoolgirls from the Borderlands of Eastern Anatolia, Vanessa lets these innocent girls tell their stories through their eyes. I was in awe the first time I saw this series and recently seeing/listening to an interview that Vanessa did on the WorldPress site, it heightened her work with these girls even more. Check out the interview

*I’m sure this interview has been up for a while now and many have seen it. But I really enjoyed it and wanted to share it here.

  • Some a little spooky about three girls stood so still together ... and so serious :-)
  • Vanessa's images are probably the ones that stood out the most to me at last years World Press Expo. There's something about, crisp, black & white portraits that makes them stand out to me amongst all other photojournalism projects around ... I must be old school at heart.
  • Patrick, I don't think that's old school. I think Vanessa's honesty, passion and respect for her subjects makes for really outstanding, incredible imagery. I think you just have good taste!
  • Thanks for the great link. Although Sweet Nothings was riveting, Vanessa's Imagined States and Desires is not to be missed.
    Best,
