Welcome to Blog Post Number One
This first post feels like attempting to devour a full Italian meal in the first seating….a little overwhelming, a little heavy but so enthusiastically positive about finishing the entire plates of anti-pasta, meat, pasta, desert, wine and wine and wine again and to top it all off of with an espresso. (I’m really not hungry, it’s just that this was the closest analogy I could come up with) So, with a fully content belly and mind, I welcome you to Slightly Lucid.
Slightly Lucid used to be the name of my photoblog, in which now it’s simply called A Photoblog. There are really two reasons why I decided to change the name. First, well that’s what it is – a photoblog. For the capital “A”, it’s not for syntax, my family calls me A (as short as you can get for Aislinn) For a while I’ve been wanting to create a what’s-going-on-in-my-world visual blog. I’ve always liked the name Slightly Lucid, hence why I’ve been using it, but I also like to think about being in that state. Slightly aware, almost coherent. I find that it’s a state that people can be in just before understanding a concept, just before getting a joke, or for an artist, a state while creating, just before or immediately after capturing a moment. I believe that we are never fully here or entirely aware, i like to think that those moments as slips in the cracks, our moments of innocence.
So being lucid or not, I do plan and hope to bring you interesting and thought provoking work. My interests are varied and I’m looking forward to write about works from new and old artists and photographers, to highlight interesting essays and current events. I’m hoping to have guest bloggers and to have interviews with interesting and captivating artists. What I am most looking forward to is to discover and learn and to be in a state of somewhat cohesiveness but all the while slipping…
